SOUTH OF SIENA - OCTOBER 2006 |
|
Three days of in your face blue skies and low on the horizon autumn sunshine sent Dom P back to Southern Tuscany to revisit some of the areas less and more well travelled photographically in paradoxplace. |

South West of Siena near Giovanni d'Asso (where a white truffle festival will be held in November) - three of the iconic symbols of Tuscany - Cypress Trees, Olive Trees and stone built Hill Towns. And there'll be vineyards in there as well ! Grape picking concluded earlier in October, olives will be over half way there by the beginning of November, and the revolting new wine is already out there along with the to die for new olive oil. |

| South of Montalcino the Abbazia di Sant'Antimo has shed its short lived scaffolding and sparkles in the late autumn sun. |

|
Further south the leaves of the chestnut and beech trees on the lower and middle slopes of Monte Amiata are goldening, whilst the trees on the upper slopes are already leaflessly wintery (go up there in early October to get their Autumn colours). Throughout the mountain forest there is an almost terracotta coloured leaf carpet. |
